The Federal College of Education, Zaria, also known formally as Northern Secondary Teachers’ College, is a government-owned college of education located in old Jos Road, opposite the Institute of Administration (Kongo Campus), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Formally known as Advance Teachers’ College,(A.T.C) founded by the then northern government it in 1962.

Federal College of Education, Zaria admits successful candidates, irrespective of where they come from (their tribe, race, traditional or even religious backgrounds). Approved by national university commission (NUC) and affiliated to the Ahmadu Bello university Zaria, FCE Zaria awards successful undergraduate and NCE students with first-degree courses and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

Candidates seeking admission into the Federal College of Education, Zaria, must meet the following requirements:

The requirements for admission into FCEZARIA Undergraduate programmes B.Ed and B.Sc (Ed) are as follows:

  1. Candidates must have passed jamb and applied for the degree programme.
  2. Must have obtained a minimum of five credit passes in relevant subjects a credit in mathematics and at least a pass at O’ Level are required for Science Courses, while a credit in English at O’ Level are required in Arts courses. FCEZARIA offers two different type of part-time Programmes, these programmes are the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) and Certificate. Candidates seeking to gain admission into the FCEZARIA part time PDE programme should have obtained minimum of first degree or HND, While the entry requirements for certificates are credit passes in the subjects in WAEC/NECO, These credit passes should not be obtained in no more than two sittings.
